Summer Dien

Hi! My name is Summer Dien. I was born in Vietnam, raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota and have lived in Japan, Brazil, the Middle East and Thailand. I attended the University of Minnesota and earned my Master’s in Education and my teaching licensure for language acquisition in 2009. I speak Vietnamese, Japanese, Portuguese, and English.

I started practicing yoga while teaching in Doha, Qatar, in 2010. It helped me draw strength, courage, and patience from within, providing me with the tools to deal with the challenges and difficulties that come with
​living abroad.

After attending my first yoga class, I immediately fell in love with yoga and have been dedicated to my asana practice ever since. I discovered Ashtanga vinyasa yoga in 2012 and studied with Prem and Radha Carlisi at the Ashtanga Yoga Research Center in Bali. Also during this same year, I started Vipassana meditation as taught by S.N. Goenka. I did a spiritual pilgrimage in Myanmar in early 2013 and visited various temples and holy sites with other Vipassana meditators and got to attend Dhamma Talks with Mr. Goenka himself.

At Samahita Retreat in June 2013, I completed my 200 hour foundational yoga teacher training with Paul Dallaghan. It was during this time that I was a  lso introduced to Pranayama in the Kaivalyadhama tradition and began studying directly under Paul’s teacher, Sri O. P. Tiwari. I continue to study extensively with Paul Dallaghan and Sri O.P. Tiwari. After my training, I started teaching yoga, pranayama, and meditation full time at Samahita Retreat in Koh Samui, Thailand.

During my two years at Samahita, I worked with thousands of guests and yoga practitioners from all walks of life, with varying ability levels, body types and injuries. I assisted on retreats and on the foundational and advanced teacher trainings.

I tailor the practice to suit the student’s needs and desires, and challenge them to achieve their highest potential, both on and off the mat.

I am committed to the path of yoga and dedicate my life to fully supporting and uplifting others by passing on the ancient yogic practices of asana, pranayama, and meditation.
